A ratio of a:b can be expressed as a fraction [tex] \frac{a}{b} [/tex].
We have the ratio 30:48 which can be expressed as [tex] \frac{30}{48} [/tex].

To simplify a fraction, you find a number that will evenly divide into both the top and bottom of the fraction.

After a while, I found the number. It is 6.

[tex] \frac{30}{48} / \frac{6}{6} = \frac{5}{8} [/tex]

So, the answer is 5/8.
