We then find the net force acting upon the object

Ft = Fr + Fl

Ft = 8N - 3N

Ft = 5N

After we find net force acting upon the object we can then use Newton's 2nd Law to find its acceleration.

Ft = m*a

Isolate accerleration

a = Ft / m

a = 5N / 5kg

a = 1 m/s^2
