We will treat cells that are either hypertonic or hypotonic by giving solution that is opposite to that solution. If the patient is dehydrated so their blood is considered as hypertonic solution. They will need an opposite solution i. e. hypotonic solution in order to bring their tonicity back to the normal range while on the other hand, if the body is hypotonic so the hypertonic solution is needed to maintain homeostasis in the body.
