In Guatemala, Spanish is official but it is also used as a second or third language by many of its inhabitants. There are 25 languages in the country, 22 of them are Mayan languages spoken in rural areas. In Guatemala, 60% speak Spanish as an official language and in total 86.40% as first or secondary.
